Summary

Technology affords young people many benefits: the ability to talk to people worldwide and make rewarding social connections that may be difficult to make in person. Technological advances also create the potential for risk. This brief focuses on the potential risks of technology use: electronic aggression, any kind of aggression perpetrated through technology—any type of harassment or bullying (teasing, telling lies, mean comments, etc ). Intended for educators/caregivers, it summarizes what is known about electronic media and youth violence and offers policy and practice recommendations.
